Derby Railway Angling Club was originally formed in 1895 for employees of the then Midland Railway. As the railway industry has changed over the past 100 years, so has our Club as we strive to meet the requirements of our members old and new. Our objective, “to encourage the healthy art of angling and to acquire, develop and protect waters for angling purposes” is as relevant today as it was over 100 years ago.

We offer a wide range angling facilities to suit all tastes including course fisheries on small still-waters, canals and rivers to fly-fishing on rivers and streams in Derbyshire.

The Derby Railway Angling Club is a member of The Angling Trust and Partner of local environmental improvement initiatives.

The Club also offers match facilities on the River Trent and the Trent & Mersey Canal (please see Match Booking Application Form)

We believe the fishing rights held by Derby Railway Angling Club offer the angler one the most diverse and comprehensive angling opportunities in the midlands. In brief we can offer 40 acres of pools and lakes, 13 miles of river coarse fishing, 3 miles of canal, 4 ½ miles of river trout and grayling fly-fishing and 2 miles of small river/brook trout fishing. So whether you are a specimen angler, fly fisher, still-water angler or general all-round angler we will have something to suit you!
