New Season River Bank Preparations.

21 May 2025

|

With less than a month to go to the start of the new River Season we are busy clearing the river banks so you don’t have to face this.

By the 16th June we hope to have most venues looking more like this.

This work is done by your Committee members on a voluntary basis and it’s not all sat on tractor or walking behind a mower. The real hard work is the handling a brushcutter / strimmer down the bank cutting out the pegs.

If you haven’t renewed your membership yet, please apply by 6th June to ensure you receive it prior to the 16th.

11th June – The story so far

Over the past few weeks we’ve been busy preparing the Trent for the new season: the Crown Bend, A50, Pipe Bridge, Boathouse, A6, Kings Mills and Swarkestone have all been cut, with Lodge Farm and Donington West Meadow left to do.

As ever, we’ve endeavoured to get pegs cut on these sections but we’re very short of labour this year so some sections will inevitably be missed but a few willing hands can make a lot of difference in a couple of hours so if you’re willing to lend a hand please get in touch. It will be much appreciated!
