The pool holds a very good
head of perch, roach, rudd, carp and some bream. We initially stocked 100
mirror and common carp at 4-5lbs. The first of which were introduced March 2001
and some are now in excess of 30lb. The pool has been quite weedy in recent
years, so it pays to find a good spot to present a rig by having a feel around
with a bare lead for the clearer areas. There is a relatively large stock of
carp for the size of the pool and the fish are usually quite active, so can be
located quite easily during the warmer months of the year and frequently patrol
the margins. The carp have become wiser as the angling pressure has increased
but respond well to a light scattering of bait.
An otter fence was erected around the
lake in 2018 to both protect the fish from predators and prevent the fish from
escaping during flooding. Please ensure the gates are locked at all times and
report any damage to the club. Also, if you see any holes caused by wildlife
digging around the fence, block them off please.
